Although progress on the Little Jewell Country Club is, as most projects of this nature tend to be, slower than hoped, there is still progress being made.
Winter weather, of course, has delayed things, but to date a crawl-space foundation has been constructed in preparation for the next step–moving the dance hall into place. Once the building is moved, contractors will begin shoring up the trusses and straightening out walls, followed by framing the two additions and adding insulation, windows, doors and siding. The geothermal heat and air conditioning system will then be installed, as well as final interior work. Plans are to have the building ready for use by summer of 2026.
Once construction is complete, a whole plethora of activities are planned to keep the building busy with activities for all ages that add value to the Big Flat community. The Big Flat Bulletin will touch on some of these activities in future articles.
